Managing Water and Wastewater Assets
In late 1990s, various
regulatory edicts, such as GASB 34 and CMOM regulations, mandated
the need for significant improvement in the development of water and
wastewater asset management systems. Recently a string of aging
infrastructure failures has highlighted the importance of having a
GIS based asset management system for every municipality. Azertia
provides software and services to build and maintain water and
wastewater asset mapping systems (as well as storm water and other
municipal asset requirements) that provide for:
Water:
- Accurate GPS field
mapping and surveying of all water assets. This can include Fire
Hydrants, Valves, Curb Boxes, Meter Pits, Pumps, Special Valves,
etc.
- Creation of a
centralized GIS water asset system database using various
hardcopy and/or digital data sources such as GPS field data
collection, paper maps, as-built drawings, valve intersection
drawing etc.
- Maintaining accurate
and current information related to valve maintenance, hydrant
flushing and related ongoing operational processes.
- Creation of highly
accurate link-node models for water distribution and sewer
collection systems. This enables users to then perform faster,
less costly hydraulic modeling of networks using such packages
as WaterCAD, KYPIPE etc.
Wastewater:
- Accurate GPS field
mapping and surveying of all wastewater assets. This can include
sewer manholes, etc.
- Creation of a
centralized GIS wastewater asset system database using various
hardcopy and/or digital data sources such as GPS field data
collection, paper maps, as-built drawings, aerial flyover
photographs, etc.
- Maintaining accurate
and current information related to ongoing operational processes
such as Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO) information.
- Linkage of
wastewater piping CCTV inspection data to the wastewater pipe
segments in the GIS system.

Software Solution
Azertia specifically designed
the
FACTS Viewer Water
& Wastewater XF (eXtended Function) module
to:
-
Enable comprehensive management
and monitoring of water distribution and wastewater collection
network assets.
-
Address regulatory mandates for
managing water and wastewater systems including
GASB 34 and
CMOM reporting requirements.
-
Provide for routine and ad hoc
information access and reporting.
-
Support "work flow" based
operational update of the asset systems.
Be it hydrant flushing, valve
inspection, main replacement and assessment, and/or water and
wastewater system networks analysis, the FACTS XF Water/Wastewater
module database design provides for work flow based capture and
maintenance of the data you need to implement a robust asset
management system. This includes hard asset data such as manholes,
pipes and valves as well as related maintenance/service information
such as flushing data, sewer inflow and infiltration (I&I) and water
quality complaints.
