FACTS Viewer XF Storm Water Management Module
The FACTS Viewer eXtended Function
extends the functionality of the Basic Edition module to provide the functions needed to manage various and storm water drainage system
assets. The Storm Water Management module gives the department a comprehensive tool with which to manage and monitor their asset networks on a day to day basis. More
importantly, it is a work flow based mapping tool that was designed with operations personnel in mind. Thus, you don't have to become an expert in complex mapping technology to get something done. The FACTS Viewer XF Storm Water Management module makes generating asset network and related maps easy and is a must have for any
highway/DPW department. The FACTS Viewer XF Storm Water Management module maintains the following
assets:
| Storm |
Catch Basins |
Construction Sites |
Culverts |
| |
Discharge Points/Outfalls |
Drainage Basins |
Inlet Points |

NPDES Phase II Compliance
The FACTS Viewer XF Storm Water Management module provides functions that assist municipal and utility organizations
(MS4) meet Phase II requirements. FACTS XF provides the tools to implement and maintain an ongoing compliance and reporting program. Instead of paying for "one-time" consulting reports, why not start a real compliance program today!
Public Education &
Outreach
The FACTS Viewer
provides functionality to create maps of any part of the storm water system. It
also provides functionality to create mailing lists using the Parcel layer.
Users can generate mailing lists for all residents in a specific sewershed and
mail informational material related to stormwater. FACTS Viewer can improved the
effectiveness of your education & outreach program by targeting areas where
pollution problem has a higher probability of occurring. Using FACTS Viewer in
their daily workflow DPW/Highway departments can answer questions, like the ones
provided below, in seconds:
-
How many households did we mail a stormwater flyer to last year?
-
Did we already mail a flyer to this street?
-
How many catch basins did we tag in first 3 months of the year?
-
Is
that catch basin at intersection of Main St and Smith St tagged?

Illicit Discharge
Detection & Elimination (IDDE)
The FACTS Viewer Stormwater module allows MS4s to
implement an illicit discharge detection & elimination program.
Users can not only keep outfall locations in the database
but also keep all the inspection information related to every outfall as per
Outfall Reconnaissance Inventory survey.
For every outfall in the system, the program can generate an inspection history.
If an illicit discharge is detected, FACTS Viewer can help by allowing users to
trace back and find the source of the contamination. A stormwater management
software is a must for every MS4 implementing an IDDE program.

Construction Site Monitoring
Using FACTS Viewer MS4s can track all active construction sites
with area of over 1 acre (or 5000 sq feet). Inspection information can also be
kept in the system allowing users to generate various reports.
Structural BMP's
One of the key aspects on NPDES programs is post
construction runoff control. The FACTS Viewer XF Storm Water Management module enables users to maintain a complete inventory of storm system structural BMP's. FACTS XF also maintains an associated maintenance history for each structural BMP, thus ensuring proper ongoing maintenance for each asset.
At the end of every year the system can generate several reports showing what
BMP's had maintenance done on them, how frequently the maintenance was done, how
much time and material were spent on the maintenance.
Good Housekeeping
FACTS Viewer being a GIS based system allows MS4s to keep inspection and
maintenance information on several non storm water related layers like streets,
grass turf, pavement etc. Users can track how many miles of streets were swept,
how much fertilizer was used on public owned grass turn, how much salt was
spread as part of snow removal activity.
GASB 34 Compliance
Governmental Accounting Standards Board rule number 34 (GASB 34) requires municipalities to report infrastructure assets which are defined as long-lived capital assets. FACTS Viewer XF provides users with standard and ad hoc reporting tools to assist in complying with GASB 34 requirements. The XF module enables users to track ongoing maintenance activity which is particularly useful for those municipalities that choose to report assets via
the Modified Approach. Beyond GASB 34, the asset reporting and charting functions are a great aid in managing day to day operations. FACTS Viewer provides reports for assets such as culverts, sidewalks, signs, street lights and catch basins.
