FACTS Viewer
  1. How do I reduce the number of fields visible to the user in Hydrant Manager?

On the Hydrant Manager Application main menu, click the right mouse button and select the Customize Data Fields option. The system displays the Field Setup form where users can change the label for a field, tag a field as required (mandatory) for data entry and/or completely hide a field from view on the display form.

  2. Is it possible to change the Hydrant Manager flushing data form on the PDA device?

End users may not change the flushing data form which is shipped with the product. However, contact Azertia should you have specific or unique needs that may require creation of altered form fields for use on the PDA device.

  3. How do I use the Hydrant Manager Application in a multi-user environment?

The Hydrant Manager Application enables multiple users to access a common hydrant database on a Local Area Network (LAN), that is, all users may access one hydrant database on a central server. Data exchange with PDA devices can be performed from any computer on the LAN running the Hydrant Manager Application.

  4. Can the Hydrant Manager Application be used with Windows CE based PDA devices?

No. At present, the Hydrant Manager Application currently only supports PDA devices running the PALM OS®  version 3.5 or higher.

  5. I already have a hydrant database/spreadsheet. How do I use this data with Hydrant Manager?

Users with an existing hydrant database or spreadsheet can readily transfer or convert their data for use with the Hydrant Manager Application. Please refer to the Database Schema section in the Hydrant Manager's User Guide. The Database Schema lists the field record organization that the application uses. To convert your data requires an operational Microsoft Access© application installed on your computer. Simply open the sample database that ships with the product using Microsoft Access, delete the existing sample records and perform an import operation from your existing hydrant database. Users must take care to ensure that the imported data adheres to the Hydrant Manager Database Schema.

Users who do not have Microsoft Access© or require additional help should contact Azertia. For a nominal service charge, Azertia can perform a clean-up operation on your existing data and then transfer your data into a Hydrant Manager compliant database structure.

  6. What database does Hydrant Manager use?

Internally, the Hydrant Manager Application makes use of a Microsoft Access© 97 database. Users need not install an Access© database on their computer(s) however as the application ships with all the runtime database components necessary for operation.

  7. How do I export Hydrant Manager data into a spreadsheet?

All Hydrant Manager Application report functions have an export button on the top toolbar. This enables users to export data to a number of formats including Microsoft Excel© spreadsheet format. Users can also export data to a comma delimited file using the export button in the Data Browse form.

  9. Is Hydrant Manager supported on Windows 95?

Hydrant Manager is not supported on the Windows 95 operating system. Supported environments include Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT, Windows 2000 and  Windows XP. While we believe the application will operate correctly in a Windows 95 environment, Azertia no longer provides support for, nor tests the application in this environment. Thus, users who purchase the product for use on a Windows 95 system do so at their own risk.

  10. I downloaded the Hydrant Manager Application and the evaluation period has expired. Can I extend the evaluation period?

The Hydrant Manager Application is provided with a 15-day evaluation license. Once the evaluation license expires, users need to purchase a valid license. To purchase a license please contact us.

  11. How do I use FACTS Viewer with my own data?

FACTS Viewer can be used to view any ESRI Shapefile© dataset. However to make use of all functions within the FACTS Viewer product, the dataset must adhere to the FACTS Database Schema. The FACTS Viewer application includes a tool to enable users  to migrate data from their existing shapefiles to new shapefiles based on the FACTS Database Schema.

  12. What data formats does FACTS Viewer support?

FACTS Viewer is primarily designed to work with ESRI Shapefiles. It can also read Arc/Info Coverages and AutoCAD drawing files. However these files should be used primarily for base map features such as parcels, etc. FACTS Viewer also works with several image formats for displaying raster data.
